Todays images are of the ‘Den Haag Strand Marathon’ taken at Scheveningen Beach on 13 January 2013.
The Strand Marathon (a.k.a Zwarte Marathon) is the first marathon of the year. The marathon course runs from The Hague Road Runners Clubhouse and then along the North Sea shoreline from Scheveningen, Wassenaar, Katwijk and finally to Noordwijk before returning along the same and finishing back at the clubhouse.
With clear blue skies, temperatures hovering at around freezing and the crisp crunch of frosty sand underfoot the Strand Marathon is for the most hardy and dedicated of marathon runners.
