Todays images are of the Netherlands Veterans Day taken on 30 June 2012.
The Netherlands ‘Veterans Day’ (Veteranendag) is an annual celebration of its service men and women.
The day starts with a ceremony in the Ridderzaal and the awarding of various medals in the Binnenhof. This is followed by the National Parade (Nationaal Defilé) and Fly past where the Prins van Oranje takes the salute of the 4000 participating veterans.
The day continues in the Malieveld with various events and exhibits celebrating the Dutch Veterans.
With many exhibits, from firetrucks to jet planes and activities including a sand sculpture pit for the young and a climbing wall for the adventurous as well as exhibition of Veteran’s art and a spectacular demonstration by the Horse Artillery Corp (Korps Rijdende Artillerie) there was plenty to do and see for this year’s record 85,000 visitors.
